On Missing You

NOTE: On our bedroom wall for the past 20 years has been a poem that I wrote for our 4th anniversary. I honestly don’t know why I wrote it. In fact, I could not tell you the last time I read it. Yesterday I took it off the wall and read it for what felt like the first time. My 25 year old self ministered to me today.

Indelibly impressed with your form and sweetness
Would I miss you one moment passed?
Would I miss you when apart?

Hole with no end, only Jesus to carry me along
Would I miss you when gone?

Oh, my love,
Don’t doubt your place
For you are to me,
An unrivaled sweet grace
~

Missing you, is life for me
Wondrous truth,
All is temporary

With last breath, only ceasing
Sweet pain in death,
No more missing

For one day, we shall stand
Forever to stay,
No lacking found

In His presence, fullness reigns
No more absence,
Nor loss to sustain
